The registration details, the insurance, the supervision and what happens to your data. Unglamorous, but it is the part a careful person checks before handing over their books.
Bromage & Co Accounting is the trading name of Bromage & Co Accounting Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17052920. The registered office address is on the public register at Companies House. The practice operates from Fleet, Hampshire and works with clients across the UK.
Louis Bromage is an associate chartered management accountant, ACMA CGMA, and a member in practice of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. The practice holds a CIMA practising certificate.
Professional indemnity cover is held and maintained through Simply Business, as CIMA requires of certificate holders. The policy details and limit of indemnity are available on request.
The practice is supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes by CIMA. This is why identification documents are requested at the start of every engagement, and why they are requested again if your circumstances change.
If something has gone wrong, email Louis directly at enquiries@bromageco.com and say so plainly. You will get a response, and an explanation of what will be done about it. If it cannot be resolved between us, you can take the complaint to CIMA, who operate a formal process for members in practice.
No investment, pension or insurance advice. No audit, no insolvency work, no legal drafting, no arranging or broking of finance or deals. Where you need any of that, you are referred to someone regulated to do it, and told so at the time.
Bromage & Co Accounting Ltd, company number 17052920, is the data controller for the information you give us. Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, reference ZC197639.
Your name and contact details. Your National Insurance number and UTR. Your accounting records, bank data and tax information. Payroll and pension details for your employees where we run your payroll. Photo identification and proof of address, which anti-money-laundering rules oblige us to take and keep.
To do the work you engaged us to do, and to meet the legal duties that come with doing it: filing with HMRC and Companies House, verifying identity, and keeping records for the period the law sets.
Performance of our contract with you for the accounting work itself. Legal obligation for identity checks, filings and record retention. Legitimate interests for the ordinary administration of the practice, including keeping a record of advice given.
HMRC and Companies House, where a filing requires it. The software used to do your books, principally Xero, and HMRC-recognised filing software. Our insurer or CIMA, only if a claim or complaint makes it necessary. Your data is never sold, never added to a marketing list, and never passed to anyone else without your instruction.
Seven years after the engagement ends, which is the period tax and company law require, and then it is deleted. Identification records taken for anti-money-laundering purposes are kept for five years after the relationship ends.
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for anything inaccurate to be corrected, and ask for deletion where no legal duty requires it to be kept. Ask by email and you will get an answer within one month. If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
